Basil for days. 🌿 You should smell my kitchen.
I love freezing basil leaves and crumbling them into just about everything all winter long.
What’s your favorite way to preserve the taste of summer?

☀️Tulasi Vivaha is ceremonial marriage of Tulsi (holy basil) plant to God Sri Vishnu
🔥Legend - the Tulsi plant was a woman named “Vrinda” (Brinda; a synonym of Tulsi). She incarnated form of Goddess Lakshmi. She was married to the Asura king Jalandhar, who due to her piety and devotion to Vishnu, became invincible.
🔱 Even Shiva could not defeat Jalandhar, so he requested Vishnu - the preserver in the Trinity - to find a solution. Vishnu disguised himself as Jalandhar and tricked Vrinda by touching her. She realized it was not her husband but Vishnu. This destroyed her chastity.
With her chastity destroyed,
. 🌺Jalandhar lost his power and was killed by Shiva. Vrinda cursed Vishnu to become Shaligram and to be separated from his wife, Lakshmi. This was later fulfilled when he was transformed into the black Shaligram stone (actually a fossil),
❤ in his Rama avatar, was separated from his wife Sita, who was kidnapped by the asura king Ravana. Vrinda then drowned herself in the ocean, and the gods (or Vishnu himself) transferred her soul to a plant, which was henceforth called Tulsi.
🔥As per a blessing by Vishnu to marry Vrinda in her next birth, Vishnu – in form of Shaligram - married Tulsi on Prabodhini Ekadashi. To commemorate this event, the ceremony of Tulsi Vivah is performed.
Another minor legend narrates that Lakshmi slew a demon on this day and remained on earth as the Tulsi plant

When you wanna throw together a delicious meal but are short on time? What better to make than a big delicious pot of pasta with @victoriafinefoods sauces! There’s so much flavor packed into each and every bite!
Sometimes we feel like some good carbs some Energy! this Pennette pasta is Red sauce spicy with baby basil, onion, garlic, bacon, red capsicum, eggfruit, red chilli, Roma tomatoes and a little dash of red wine.
Very delicious meal, I do put extra baby basil when I serve it, this pasta meal goes well with garlic bread and of course it's like most pasta dishes.
The garlic bread is a French stick roll that's cut in half with some garlic, chopped flat parsley and butter.
What I love about doing this meal is the smell while it's cooking away is the best! 🙌
Recipe below of the sauce, I do try my best to write it down and don't forget to save it thankyou, enjoy Lisa 🦋
1 Tablespoon of cooking oil
2 cloves of garlic cut in fine
1 Brown Onion in small pieces

Roasted Tomato Bruschetta
This is a little gourmet twist on a Sunday night classic that my dad would whip up. He would grill french stick bread with cheese, sliced tomato and basil, and salt. It was simple and morish. Cheese, tomato, basil and salt are a perfect combo.
I roasted the tomatoes in white wine, olive oil, basil, salt & pepper. While cooling, i drizzled balsamic glaze over the tomatoes.
Bread was grilled with a smear of pesto, aged cheddar cheese, and fresh basil.
Great little entre or weekday meal.

White pizza with Västerbotten cheese, salami, fresh cherry tomatoes, basil and garlic sauce!
Wanted to do pizza last Friday but worked a bit too long, so decided to try the store-bought pizza dough. Really handy when you're in a rush. I'm however very satisfied that it was a big difference between this pizza dough and the one you make yourself; both in terms of flavour and texture - meaning it's worth the hassle to make it yourself if you have the time!
For topping, I used creme fraiche, västerbotten cheese, fresh cherry tomatoes, salt, pepper and olive oil. After baking, I topped it with fennel salami, garlic sauce (2 parts creme fraiche, 1 part mayo, garlic, salt, pepper) and fresh basil. I really recommend using västerbotten cheese, if not it gets quite boring.

Italian Basil is good, but have you ever tasted the slightly savory, spicy, anise-like notes of Thai Basil.
Introducing the underdog - 'Horapha' (Thai Basil) that lends it's underlying flavours and texture to a variety of dishes, adding an invigorating sense of freshness!

Last summer I harvested seeds from my lush crop of sweet basil plants ( you can see it on my earlier post ). Now I’ve planted those seeds .... and have this new pot of seedlings happening. Such a simple process but oh so rewarding to see the magic of nature before my very eyes!! Pesto anyone?
