digdeepyogis I don’t show my face that often on here 🙈 I’m really enjoying seeing all the different photos in this challenge. So I’m excited to share different sides of me while bringing you this challenge and connecting more personally with each of you. ✨ I was honestly avoiding journal entry for day 6 of #digdeepyogis because it brought up so many different things for me and I didn’t know where to start. • Do you have a plan? Do you need a plan? Have you ever had a plan fall spectacularly to pieces? ~
Mind chatter can walk me in circles if I let it. I don’t really have a “plan” other than to love and experience this life to my fullest expression ✨ I have things that I want and need but I’ve let go of expectations and things that are out of my control. Life teaches us in various ways, the universe, things falling apart and falling together. 
I definitely don’t neeed a plan, although I do have goals and aspirations that I continually work towards :) I tend to listen to my heart and let that guide me even when life gets hard. 
I have watched many times my plans falling apart right in front of my eyes. It has affected me in various ways, when I was a kid, when everything felt like it was too much, to now while I watch with patience and kindness towards myself. Taking it all in, the beauty with the pain, heart throbs with the aches. 🌈 That really cheesy saying comes to mind, you can’t have rainbows without a little rain 🙈 
I think finding my balance, growing and uncovering lost pieces of myself along my journey is my plan 🌱 that and trying to turn into a fairy unicorn 💁🏽 + 🕰 = 🦄  #manifest ?

✨ 10 ~ Share something you’ve done that you previously thought you’d never be able to do. ✨ I never thought I’d be able to stand up for myself. I have a weak spot when it comes to doing things for others, service brings me so much joy. Finding out that I’m kind to a fault has been hard at times to see how many situations in which I get taken advantage of. I thought this was just a part of my personality at first. Through the growing and learning this past year my body and soul has cried out begging to stand up. Yes going out of my way to help others with no expectations it is a part of how I do things, I give a lot, but when you put that together with people who take a lot, it can be exhaustive. The more situations I am able stand up for myself in the more liberated I feel. Self care and love first and foremost. You can’t pour from and empty cup, & you certainly can’t pour if your arms are too tired to lift up to your own mouth. ✨ 11 ~ Are you a worrier? Is there a particular worry you can’t shake? ✨I am not usually a worrier. When put under a certain amount of pressure or in certain situations yes naturally I think anyone would worry. In my experience I worry about my loved ones, I worry about feeling alone. I’d say more often then not though, that I’m pretty care free and fly by the seat of my pants 🙈 Worry carries my mind away from the present moment so when I feel it envelope I just breathe, practice letting go & any worry that existed escapes me. ✨ @yoga_lovely @alissayoga @cherylfyoga • @aloyoga @liforme
Before anyone gives me 💩 for doing yoga in a bikini, let me remind you that you can do yoga (and anything) in whatever you feel comfortable in. It was over 100 in Palm Springs & the fact that I feel the need to explain myself is just silly, it’s taken me a long time to feel comfortable in my own skin. I promise, you reminding me of the shame I used to feel will only make me feel for what you’re going through. Trying to police me or tell me what to do with my body isn’t okay, I would never do that to you 🦄 • insert emoji that perfectly captures how standing up for yourself feels • the unicorn is pretty dang close ;)

Day 5: if you could change one thing about your current life what would it be?
This ones tough to answer because I am a believer that everything happens for a reason. But the one thing I would change if I could, would be to live in the same country with my family. That being said, I also love being able to travel between my two homes - taipei with my family and here with @sphogat29

Day 6: do you have a plan? Do you need a plan? Have you had a plan fall spectacularly to pieces?
We were just talking about this at dinner! I used to have a plan for everything. If we went on vacation I’d have an itinerary planned down to the minute. To answer the third question, every time I did this, it always fell spectacularly to pieces! Nowadays I tend to go with the flow.  So what I’ve found, having done both, is that not only is there less stress, there’s a whole lot more of spontaneous opportunity when you plan less. That being said, i do believe it’s important to have some type of direction - to know what you ultimately want (intention setting).

So take the best of both worlds! know your ultimate destination but be detached to the fine details of arriving there. Keep the mystery in the journey.

#DigDeepYogis | Journal Entry 7 | Your top two short term goals and long term goals. How can you accomplish these? | 📝

Short-term Goal 1: Spend Sunday all day with my fur babies. To accomplish this is to pick a spot as to where to take them tomorrow. I just haven’t decided where but I know it involves spending time in nature, admiring trees (peeing on trees — this is not for me but for my dogs), smelling fresh morning air (hopefully not the dog pee), coffee, food, people watching, and whatever life brings. The furkids and I are always up early and we love it. We’ll decide tomorrow rain or shine.

Short-term | Goal 2: Schedule my physical with my doctor or a doctor. To accomplish this is to set a reminder on Monday for morning to call the clinic. I’m not too concerned but maybe I should(?) because of the random bruises all over my body, headache, dizziness, insomnia, and shortness of breath. It’s been going on for a month now, I think, and it happens every day. Thankfully it hasn’t stopped me from any of my day-to-day activities though but I’d rather not wait for it to do so.

Long term | Goal 1: Travel more. Need to get a new passport since I lost my old one… oops! Book the trips I’ve been wanting to do soon. Should be easy enough to accomplish right?

1. Finish applying to chemistry graduate school.
2. Leave my house for longer than 10 minutes unsupervised and do all the things I used to do by myself (which is a lot of stuff.) 🙃
3. Finally use all the money in my savings account to book my yoga teacher training like TODAY. .

This picture is actually me most days. In my bed curled up. Today I had to finish a paper so this was me excited that I finished it, but a picture that wasn't taken was when I fell onto my bed and had a seizure and then decided I couldn't go to the grocery store with Ted because I didn't want to wear my huge solar shield sun glasses and I didn't want to risk having more seizures today than I needed to. So instead I hid in the comfort of my dimly lit room. We all have things we're afraid of. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that they can't keep us down every day. 🌱

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
•
In 5 years, I see myself living in a place where the mountains meet the sea with my wonderful boyfriend @ta_c0, our amazing cat Winston, and possibly (hopefully) our blue heeler puppy named Hoodoo (the name is not yet set in stone but I’m hoping it catches on). I see myself living in a place where Greg and I have endless amounts of outdoor bouldering and sport climbing in our backyard. A place where I can either work on my climbing projects or go searching for shells and sea critters on the beach. A place where amazing yoga classes are only $5 (because I know those exist in Tucson, AZ - shoutout to @4thavenueyoga). A place where people really, truly care about preserving the environment and all of the creatures that inhabit it. I see myself working for an organization, possibly a non-profit that advocates for protecting the marine environment. I see myself doing big things for our planet someday and I really hope I can see them through 🌍

Day 3 #digdeepyogis • Where do you see yourself in 5 years? • In 5 years, I see myself living in a place where the mountains meet the sea with my wonderful boyfriend @ta_c0, our amazing cat Winston, and possibly (hopefully) our blue heeler puppy named Hoodoo (the name is not yet set in stone but I’m hoping it catches on). If your life goal was just to be happy, you would be failing miserably. It's impossible to be happy all of the time.  What do we do with this happiness but keep it for ourselves and hoard it because we are so afraid to lose it? This dude right here has taught me so much about this life thing. You're not always going to be happy - but if you have someone by your side who loves and supports you, you'll make it through the times that aren't so great together. The lows aren't so low with you. I don't have to try so much anymore as your laid back attitude helps me relax into myself. It was just a few months after my dear friend committed suicide. .

I was trying my best to let go of the guilt for not listening to the inner voice that said call her that day. .

2019 felt like a big one with change- new house, new work, new school, new childcare, new adventures & lots of letting go. Letting go of what no longer served me, letting go of who I used to be and becoming more connected to myself and my natural surroundings. I’m not sure that it all even makes sense yet or that this lag of the journey is complete. 
It’s been hard but coming this far feels good. 
2019 was not my season of ‘push’, of doing more or of going hard - which has come easily to me in seasons past. Instead It was my season of deep change, of digging deep within and connecting deeply to myself. Moving forward I hope to always Recognize my season and to  stay-in it. This is a good place to be. 
Rest in your season, be all there.

There comes a time in a woman’s life when she has to dig deeper than she’s ever been before. Past the superficial. Way past the pleasantries + ultimately please herself to cultivate peace. Unshakeable peace. Delving into the muddy depths of what brings you this level of nourishment is sometimes dark, often daunting but in the end the most deserving time of self actualisation 🧡

Shaking off past imprints can be a painful process + letting go of people who’s negative energy is a physical drain on yours is no easy feat. 
HOWEVER.. it is exactly that. A learning process that ultimately you grow through 🌱 You acknowledge what you’re willing to accept + what you’re absolutely not. Be unbreakable. 
Draw on that abundant Pachamama power + wear it like a cloak around your breastplate. Any negative energies that come your way... compost them back to the Earth 🍂 Do not absorb anyone else’s bad energy.. that is theirs + only theirs to own. 
Don’t be afraid of letting go. We are not bound to hold onto anything that no longer serves us.

digdeepyogis This past weekend my drive 8 hr drive out to Columbus Ohio gave me time alone to reflect on myself. I really dug deep and it has been something that I have been avoiding for a very long time. 
It hurt and it was hard to think about but the end result is, I have truly figured out my purpose and my story. I hope to one day have the courage to tell others and inspire them to push past the pain and move forward. 
It made me so self aware that I now know what it is I have to work on from here on out. I dug deep and searched my heart and soul to find answers. I see the whole picture now not just pieces of the puzzle.

It was rightly named deep focus for a reason. Not only did we dig deep into the stretches. We also focused on our mind.

These last 3 days have been so incredibly relaxing. This was exactly what I needed to reset & release all the negativity in my life!

Believe it or not, I’m gonna take the next couple days off from working out. We have a busy weekend of softball ahead!

I’ll be back at it on Monday, starting a new program! Combined lifting & HIIT, 30-40 minutes, 4 days a week, for 8 weeks.

I had great results when I did this program at the end of last summer. And this will fit perfectly into my busy schedule as rec softball 🥎 starts up alongside travel ball.

digdeepyogis Have you ever had this idea in your head of what you wanted to do or who you wanted to become, but when you thought about all the steps it took to get there it scared the hell out of you? .
This move right here was not easily done. I’ve done yoga, like a legit yoga session, less than five times in my life. It took numerous little steps to get there, and what felt like a million tries to perfect it. But here it is!! My best pose yet! .
It was kind of scary. I didn’t think I’d be able to do it. I didn’t carry the confidence I needed to make this a successful attempt, and I fell so many times. Every time I fell, I got back up and said, ‘I can and will do this!’ .
My friends, owning a business was a jump I took so long ago! I never had the confidence until now to truly believe in myself! This health and fitness journey I am on is so much more than me getting my ass up early enough to workout, more than meal planning healthy meals, and so much more than the tone and results I am seeing!

This journey has changed my life, changed my mindset, given me the courage I needed to be successful. I have big dreams you guys, they go way further than this yoga pose! I want you in on them! I want to see you be a part of this journey I am on, because you deserve to make your wildest dreams come true!

digdeepyogis The biggest benefit to any yoga posture is never how it looks or what the body doing it looks like, only how it feels and what it opens up, and ustrasana, camel pose, is all about feeling. ✨✨Our bodies are shells for our full, real selves and every body is different, but even subtle movement and body language shifts can do creative and directive things— think of the power of a look, a breath, or a smile. So, if it’s a movement that is accessible in your body, camel pose completely opens the front, the heart and throat, the belly and front pelvis (all places we often physically and emotionally guard), stirring creativity without filter and often calling up feelings we’re holding onto in the heart or belly, or ideas awaiting action. ✨✨ It feels like both strength and vulnerability (and is a good reminder both can exist simultaneously), it clears the mental clutter and forces a moment in a totally unguarded state to see what comes up and makes sure the heart, mind and gut feelings are working together. ✨✨ I especially love the challenge of this pose early in the morning like this, too early for the brain to be on its busy bullshit, and without fail, after a minute or two of feeling my way through it and settling in, creative ideas begin to string together and make sense, like sitting below the churn of mental clutter and narratives we tell ourselves is a pool of realness and creative whoa. Which, I’ll gladly take. ✨✨ If you try it at home, go slow and listen to your body. The “full expression” is wherever you are with it today. Last year I participated in a journal and yoga challenge called #digdeepyogis. My favorite aspect of the challenge was reading everyone’s responses to the same questions. It really opened my mind to others perspectives and lives. I try to always keep an open mind and put myself in others shoes but something about the journal challenge opened my eyes further to how different we all feel and the experiences we’ve had. I’m going to combine this #journalchallenge with  the yoga challenge for the month of November and hope that I find a little insight even if it’s only from self reflection. 
Day 1- 10 things I’m grateful for right now
1-my really cool job 
2-music made in the 70s
3-a warm bed
4-friendly people 
5-acceptance 
6-my sister ...
7-the things I’ve seen and adventures I’ve experienced 
8-this really cool novel I’m reading ...
9-sour dough bread 
10-I’m thankful for each member of my family 
Sometimes it’s the simple or the superficial things. 🌲🍁🥀 I’m trying to not look at the promts until the day of because I like surprises. #journal #journaling #journalprompts

I literally could not walk when I first did it and was at the ER until 1 am. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to compete,but I played it by ear, hoped and prayed, did a lot of cryotherapy, stretching and working on my mindset. I know what digging deep means now. I modified some things and went for it. Radiology was late to tell me it was more then a strain. digdeepyogis I like to go back through my feed every now and then to see how far I’ve come in my practice. I’m currently on a bus to the Denver airport and found myself doing just that when I got to the posts from only last semester when I had to come home from Israel, was having seizures for what was an unknown reason at the time, and was back to living in my childhood bedroom that I hadn’t lived in since I was sixteen. 
But then I saw this post and it’s taking everything in me to hold back tears on this bus right now so that the stranger sitting next to me doesn’t think I’m completely insane. I saw this picture and immediately got choked up. It was when @squidlyfe had come to be with me for a bit for my epilepsy center stay and though he is the absolute best at lifting me up behind that smile was a lot of fear, anger, and overall disappointment in myself. I was most definitely paralyzed by fear of the unknown. I felt like reposting this because I think it’s important to give ourselves credit for how far we’ve come. (Continued in comments)

Day 9 | #DigDeepYogis | What are three things you would do if you weren't afraid?

1. Finish applying to chemistry graduate school.
2. Leave my house for longer than 10 minutes unsupervised and do all the things I used to do by myself (which is a lot of stuff.) 🙃
3. Finally use all the money in my savings account to book my yoga teacher training like TODAY. .

This picture is actually me most days. In my bed curled up. Today I had to finish a paper so this was me excited that I finished it, but a picture that wasn't taken was when I fell onto my bed and had a seizure and then decided I couldn't go to the grocery store with Ted because I didn't want to wear my huge solar shield sun glasses and I didn't want to risk having more seizures today than I needed to. So instead I hid in the comfort of my dimly lit room. We all have things we're afraid of. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that they can't keep us down every day. 🌱

What scares you?
•
Judgment. Rejection. Disappointing the people I love most. I get so caught up in worrying about whether or not I’m accepted by others that I forget about the opinion that matters most – my own. I’ve always been so worried about whether or not people will like me or think I’m cool, but as I get older I realize how much that doesn’t really matter. Not everyone is going to like you. We’re all so beautifully different that there are bound to be people that don’t like you for what seems like no reason at all. That concept always used to scare me, and it still does from time to time, but I’m slowly learning to let it go every single day. All you can really do is be kind to everyone and put out the good vibes that you wish to get in return. Climbing is also scary sometimes but in the best possible way 😃

I don’t recommend practicing after a night of mezcal, bourbon, and tequila shots.  However, My commitment to practicing everyday is stronger than my hungover ass.  I’m just glad I got through my flow without dying or throwing up. .

I’ve always known I have an addictive personality and for most of my early 20s, I kept it in check.  It wasn’t until I got cast for an online reality show that my alcohol consumption spiral out of control.  The show sensationalized alcohol induced behavior for entertainment value.  I don’t regret having experience ‘reality’ thats in fact not reality at all.  The hypocrisy of the people responsible for creating the project is alarming though.  A show that intended to break the model minority stereotype had a dark side.  I was sexually assaulted by the producer on multiple occasions throughout the filming process.  I never talked about it (until now) because I fear that others would blame me for what happened.  When the show ended, my drinking continued. .

Its been a battle against alcohol ever since. As I meditated in the end, I came to the conclusion that my alcohol dependency no longer serves me, neither does my anger towards the man who took adventage of my trust and naiveness.  Letting go of the past is tough but its essential to living a full and loving life.  I’m still struggling to forgive those who have hurt me, but by trusting the process.. I hope to forgive not only them but also myself one day. .

digdeepyogis Journal entry 16 ~ Three things that are important to you in a relationship ~ #digdeepyogis • Quality time ♥️ being able to shut everything else out and breathe in the richness of each moment. Wether that’s being silly, having serious talks, walking in the park, adventuring, we could be doing anything as long as it’s time connecting in the present moment. Which brings me to .. • Connection 🙌🏽 and being able to connect on several levels. There are friends and loved ones I have wonderful connections with but some are stopped from going deeper usually because one of us is blocking or stopping it from looking further into each other and ourselves. Evolving a relationship to deeper connection takes effort from both sides. It’s scary opening up, but I find such beauty in the vulnerability it takes to trust one another with each others dark and light parts. Someone I can talk to about anything, cuddle with, dream, cry, laugh, grow and show my true self with is someone I can grow energetic ties with 🤗 and it’s in those energetic places where I find my tribe. • Kindness and care • 
Being gentle with each other and letting one another know they’re supported and cared for promoted growth in the relationship and individually. 
We are loving, social creatures. We are here for one another and when we give and receive the care we so desperately need, we thrive ✨

When yoga teachers say “let go of what doesn’t serve you” I used to get so angry. Like I’m shaking in this warrior two, I can barely hold on to the mat let alone to something that doesn’t serve me? Fuck outta here. Then I learned of all the stories I tell myself like I’m not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough. Whatever I can say to make sure that I don’t progress in this life. Ahhhhh. That’s the shit that they are talking about. Unless you bring these stories to the light, you’ll just keep bringing the past to the present. Or maybe things that don’t even exist into the moment. When we are able to look inward, we can see what doesn’t do us any good to keep carrying around with us. I’ve dealt with enough heavy shit. I don’t need anymore. I leave what doesn’t serve me now where ever I see fit. AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT

Thankfully my anxiety has been lowered to a dull almost non existent roar as of recently. Yesterday she came by to say hello. I texted my boyfriend (my game plan when these things happen) to let him know it was starting and to talk it through. With all of the challenges, it’s easy to constantly want to outdo your last post with a harder or cooler picture. When I thought of animal poses I was only reminded of the ones that were hard for me. This is one of the first movements we learn as a beginner yogi. It links breath with movement as we warm up the spine. The wolf knows nothing out there is gonna come for him, yet he knows that no meal is secured. He takes every hunt like his first and his last- always learning valuable tips and tricks along the way.

Been slacking but still making improvements 💁🏻 Also, I found out that I won the #DigDeepYogis challenge and I’m super excited about that because I’ve never won anything and I won a yoga mat! Lord knows how badly I needed a yoga mat! I’ve been working with a super cheap yoga mat and I’ve been saving up to get a really nice one so this is a huge blessing for me!
