BBQ Chicken and BBQ Pork in honor of college football Saturday. Both of these recipes are located on my website underneath the recipes tab. Not only are these two recipes great for meal prep but they can also be adjusted to work for your Saturday football tailgates.
Barbecue foods are some of my favorite to make for meal prep because of the amount of food you can make at once. If you have a big grill you can cook all of your meat at the same time. Barbecue food usually incorporates some kind of sauce which as I’ve explained in the past, helps the meat to reheat in the microwave. Picking a good BBQ sauce makes all the difference when you cook your food. There are lots of different BBQ sauces out there and I’ve found that the best ones, both nutritionally and in flavor, are local BBQ sauces. I’ve noticed the best BBQ sauces, salsas, and pasta sauces all share one thing in common that has nothing to do with the actual sauce. The best sauces all have janky labels that look like they were made in Microsoft paint. This is almost a telltale sign that it isn’t a mass produced sauce. The mass produced sauces tend to use commercially available ingredients because of the amount of product they have to make. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but if that is something you care about then its worth taking into consideration. So try and pick local sauces. Not only are the ingredients and flavor usually better but you are also supporting small businesses 😎

Every now and then people ask my husband questions like, "how do you feel about her weightloss?" Or, "has anything changed since she's lost weight?" I get questions like that sometimes too (got one in my live a few days ago about intimacy 😂). His answer? "I don't remember her being big, I remember her being funny/smart, etc". But the truth is, I was big... but my personality, self-respect/love and confidence has always been bigger than any number on the scale or clothing.
I've always said it, before and now... I am more than a pretty face, I am more than my appearance, I am more than my weight and/or weightloss.
A lot of people think weightloss will find them happiness, self-love or confidence and honestly, if you don't have those before weightloss, chances are they're not going to be there after either. Most people find happiness during the journey and when they do, they realize it has nothing to do with the weight. Sure, weight can hold us back in a way and weightloss can bring many benefits and a sense of freedom to us but it doesn't bring happiness and self-love. That has to come from within. When you're truly happy and respect and love yourself, it shows! In your actions AND relationship with those around you. People see and treat you the way you see and treat yourself.
In my before picture, #thestairman and I had been bf/gf for a little over a year and I was weighing about 260 lbs. That was 14 years ago. He's never said any derogatory comments regarding my weight. He wouldn't be here if he had 😉

Friendsgiving was a huge success! What a joy it was to have so many of our friends in our home to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal together!
The foods I prepared for our feast were all on-plan! I loved seeing everyone enjoying the food, as well as their reactions when I told them it was sugar-free and healthy. 😉
Now I did indulge in some delicious off-plan foods my friends brought with them! But here is the awesome part- food freedom! Even with eating some off-plan foods, I didn’t go overboard (with only eating just few bites of a few different off-plan foods). And I know I reset in 3 hours! 🦃
So if you’re wondering how to have an on-plan feast, I hope this can give you some inspiration! These are foods that are not only healthy and on-plan, but non-THMers will love them and rave about them, too! 😀

Brown Sugar Honey Ham- I made a glaze using Gentle Sweet and some molasses to make brown sugar, added a smidge of raw honey, and used ACV to make a paste. I then glazed the ham and cooked it in the slow cooker for 5 hours on low)
Sprouted Wheat Dinner Rolls (I halved it, and added 1/8 cup + 1 tbsp vital gluten. I rolled them into small sized balls, put them on a lightly greased cookie sheet and let them rise for 30 minutes. The fam and I went to see Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Sugarland, Sam Hunt, and 2 more bands last night, so I had to eat dinner at the stadium. The concert started at 5 and ended at 11:30. 😳 Somehow, we ended up sitting in the Delta Sky Zone area, so our section had a private dining area to order food and sit down during the concert. It felt totally boujee in there, but it was nice to chill during the concert. But anyway, I was able to find some stuff that fit my macros for dinner: BBQ and coleslaw. I also ate a hot dog without the bun later on because the BBQ didn’t hold me over, but it still fit the bill somewhat. I’m hoping this week’s weigh in will be super productive because I’ve been watching my intake all week. We shall see in the morning! .

Chicken Turkey sausage with grilled onion, pickles, avocado mayo & mustard!
Every Friday night, we eat pizza. Most Saturdays, we get cookies from Crumbl. We also love ice cream and bread and chips and burgers. Some might think this makes us unhealthy people. I think this just makes us regular people. Because here’s the thing. I get asked about the best way to lose weight and get healthier, and the answer is whatever way you can sustain for the rest of your life. Even when I was trying my hardest to lose weight, I never cut out a certain food or food group. The idea of that makes me straight up sad! People say losing weight is the easy part and keeping it off is the hard part, but I completely disagree. I think that‘a only true when you do a quick fix or extreme diet because sure the weight comes off fast, but it’s not sustainable long term! And so the weight comes back. I’ve always said that if the method wasn’t one I can do it forever, it wasn’t one worth doing at all. For me, that came down to tracking calories and macros which helped me reach my goals but also taught me how to balance my foods in a healthy way. And THAT is something I knew I could do forever! The goal is obviously to be a healthy person and fuel my body correctly which to me looks like lots of fruits and veggies and proteins and nutrients and sometimes pizza and cookies. I promise you that making small changes that you can consistently stick with will make a way bigger difference, especially long term, than just doing something for a minute and then reverting back to the original bad habits. And if you can commit to that, I can promise you you’ll be successful 💛
